Our Story
Every tamale we make starts with one woman from a small town in Puebla, Mexico, and with her mother, Elena.
Severina comes from Coatzingo, Zaragoza, in Puebla, Mexico. In her small town there weren’t many opportunities. People worked in the fields, and most of all, they worked the corn.
Severina was one of nine kids. While she was still in elementary school, she left to go to work and help feed her family.
It was her mother, Elena, who taught her to make tamales. That is the recipe we make today, Puebla style.
Today her family makes tamales from Severina’s recipe in San Bernardino, CA. The name came easily: a dozen is how everyone orders tamales.
